Each chapter - designed to be a daily devotion during a 31-day month – sheds new light on the many aspects of what Jesus' blood accomplished. "The blood of Jesus Christ has removed all enmity between God and man, so that we can be reconciled to Him," Dr Rajan says, quoting Colossians 1:20:
And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
One has peace with God because one has faith in the shed blood of Jesus and has received the Prince of Peace as one's Lord and Saviour, Dr Rajan states.
In one chapter Dr Rajan explains why all redeemed people can now come before the throne of God boldly though it used to be that only the High Priest could enter the Holy of Holies, once a year, and only after he had observed strict rituals on pain of death. The High Priest came bearing the blood of the animal that was yearly sacrificed for the sins of the people, but, Dr Rajan points out, one now enters by the blood of the lamb, Jesus.
Having, therefore brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus. (Hebrews 10:19)
This blood has power to purge one's conscience, Dr Rajan writes.
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (Hebrews 9:14)
"We were far away and alienated from the presence of God," Dr Rajan says. "When you are far away from God you are not able to enjoy the goodness of God. Sin separated us from God. There was a separation between man and God." Then Dr Rajan introduces the role of the blood of Christ in bringing those who are in Christ Jesus near to God:
But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. (Ephesians 2:13)
Dr Rajan points out that when one "takes communion" - a ceremony many are familiar with where a congregation partakes of bread and wine symbolising the body and blood of Jesus, it is done in remembrance of Christ and His death, but is more than that. It is communion with the blood and body of Christ.
The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? (1 Corinthians 10:16)
Dr Rajan speaks of how the Lord Jesus, with His own blood, washes from their sins all who belong to Him and makes them kings and priests to His Father.
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, and hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. (Revelation 1: 5-6)
"It does not matter what your earthly position is, the blood of Jesus has obtained for you and me a heavenly position which is eternal," says Dr Rajan.
Dr Rajan says the scripture clearly states that the blood of Jesus is one of the elements one needs to overcome the devil.
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. (Revelation 12:11)
Dr Rajan puts it this way: "I overcome Satan by personally testifying what the Word says the blood of Jesus does for me."
"As you take hold of all the revelations of the blood of Jesus in the Word of God and begin to declare them, faith and power will be born in your life to overcome," he says.
The blood of Jesus gives one eternal life, Dr Rajan says. "The blood of Jesus has brought eternity into our lives. We will spend eternity in God's presence."
Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day. (John 6:53-54)
Dr Rajan explains the work of the blood of Christ in making one holy and setting one apart for His purposes. He quotes Hebrews 13:12 to show that just as the animal sacrifices made by Israel's High Priest yearly were taken outside the camp, so Jesus suffered outside the gate of Jerusalem, true to the type of the old Testament sacrifice, but superior to it and superseding it in that His sacrifice was made with His own blood. And that as the blood of the animals was taken into the temple to signify the santification – the making holy and setting apart – of God's people Israel, so the blood of Jesus sanctifies all those who are His.
"What makes us holy is not our righteousness but the righteousness of the Lord Jesus," Dr Rajan says. "He gave us His righteousness by shedding His very blood on the cross of Calvary.
"When we are clothed in His righteousness and covered by His blood it elevates our position from the natural to the supernatural.
"When God the Father looks upon us He sees our new-found position in Christ which is perfect because of the blood of Jesus. That is why the Word of God declares:
"'But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light'.(1 Peter 2:9)"
