Written and produced by worship leaders and musicians from a number of Baptist Churches, the first album is called 'Let it Rise Up' and features music in the genre of Tim Hughes, Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman and Hillsong.
The project was headed up by Jamie Freeman (Gymea Baptist), Glen Spencer (Bayside Baptist) and Matt Johnston (Carlingford Baptist).
"This first album came from a growing collective of worship leaders, songwriters, musicians, sound technicians and 'creatives' keen to work together to see churches passionately engaging in gathered worship," said Jamie Freeman, Worship Director at Gymea Baptist Church.
"We recorded the album at The Grove, one of Australia's premier recording studios, which provided an excellent venue for the team to bunk down and let the creative juices flow," Jamie said.
Rev Karl Faase, senior Pastor of Gymea Baptist Church and co founder of the "Jesus. All about Life" campaigns helped launch the album at the Revive conference. Karl Faase said "This album is a significant and much needed step in redressing the imbalance in worship music in Baptist Churches. CCLI monitoring of music used in Baptist congregations indicate that they only use 1% of songs written in Baptist churches in worship, where as other churches such as Pentecostal congregations use up to 85% of their own music." Karl went on to endorse the oneworship initiative by saying "…this gives a focus for worship leaders, musicians and song writers from Baptist churches to work together and encourage growth in music ministry".
Alongside producing albums, oneworship will run worship gatherings, songwriting retreats and training events to see the Church empowered in the area of congregational worship.
'Let it Rise Up' was written by Jamie Freeman, Glen Spencer and Matt Johnston and contains 12 tracks.
