That's what I find fascinating about airports; the air of excitement and anticipation. Or, maybe it's just that I spend more time in the arrivals terminal than the departure terminal. We also can't forget the real emotion seen at the airport. Tears of sadness and tears of happiness are shed. Then, there are the arguments that do happen between families. They try to keep them as discreet as possible, but the truth is these arguments are easy to see.
Questions about Travel
Airports mark the beginning or ending of a journey. Or perhaps, the continuation of a journey, for those on a connecting flight. The same can be said for aeroplanes. Aeroplanes take you on a journey. There are many different people onboard a plane. They too are on a journey. Where are they on a journey to? Why are they going there? The answers to these questions may never be known. Not to you, of course. But to someone out there in the world, the person sitting next to you is a part of their life's journey. This is why I find airports and aeroplanes exciting. I always think about where people are going and why. Have they just been on a holiday and returning home? There are many questions which could be asked while at an airport.
Life Is a Journey
I am reminded by airports and air travel that our lives constantly change and that we are on a journey. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says "everything on earth has its own time and its own season." Just as an aeroplane takes you on a journey to a different destination, our lives are a journey. There is a season for everything. The current situation you are in now is part of your journey. God has placed you in it for a reason. We may not have the answers to why we are in a certain situation. If our current life situation isn't the most ideal, people are quick to blame God. Instead, we should take heart. John 16 verse 33 reminds us that, "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." Our journey is not always smooth, so we need to trust God's plan for us, that he will protect us. What, or who, are you putting your trust in?
Like An Aeroplane
Life is also like an aeroplane flight. You know where you're travelling to, but you can't necessarily see your way during the journey. When you sit in an aeroplane, you may not be able to see out the window, and look at the world as you go. In life, we may not be able to see where our life is taking us, but if we have faith in God, we know we will meet Him in heaven. It is part of your journey in life. A journey you are on forever. Why don't you think of this next time you're on an aeroplane or at the airport?
