|PIC1|Although this Baptist minister of 32 years and long-term Cricket Chaplain uses his historic family title for promotional advertising material, his paintings bear the simpler signature 'Tronson', following the advice of his long-term mentor, Mr Basil Sellers, who feels this allows the painting to dominate the space.
The real purpose of 'the missionary painter' is not profit, but it is the essential ingredient of Well-Being Australia's Art Ministry (of which M V Tronson is chairman). This is where the word of mouth promotional aspects of his art are very important.
The promotional activities of 'the missionary painter' include a permanent half page advertisement in the tourist's Gold Coast Guide; and prizes of his prints for a 'business card draw' at both the Tweed Heads and Kingscliff Chambers' of Commerce monthly breakfast meetings.
"One of these prints, initially won by the Tursa Employment Agency group's Nick Pritchard, is now framed and hanging in the foyer of Tursa's office," Mark Tronson explained.
"The Art Ministry is a passion of mine," the missionary painter noted. "For me, art speaks where words alone cannot convey such deep reflections. Apart from expressing my philosophical and theological mission, my purpose is often to present a work to someone in ministry, as an expression of appreciation for assisting our Well-Being Australia activities in some way."
However, he also has had some commercial success, which benefits Well-Being Australia. The works of this 'missionary painter' hang permanently in numerous Australian suburban homes and city offices, the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra and some of its south-east Queensland Sport Units.
Some of his paintings are also held by people in the UK, USA, France and New Zealand.
The art of Tronson du Coudray is also displayed at the View Gallery at Malula Bay on the New South Wales south coast, the north coast's Kingscliff TAFE 'Caldera' restaurant, the Basil Sellers Tweed Art Studio and he takes the opportunity to show new works during two annual monthly displays at Mantra on the Sea Resort at Salt Kingscliff.
The most wonderful artistic pleasures 'the missionary painter' experiences are commissions, when he is requested to paint a philosophical work for a specific situation.
"Such commission's challenge my inner being where all my heartfelt resources from the Holy Spirit emerge so as to present something that speaks into the heart and soul," M V Tronson mused.
Art Patron Mr Basil Sellers says that these special works tell a story, and the story brings the art alive. Mark Tronson supplies the written story to accompany the art work, so that the viewer might take in all the unexpected aspects that are revealed in the art.
Australian Institute of Sport Cricket Unit's Brian McFadyen paid a compliment to 'this missionary painter' when he viewed the Tronson du Coudray work 'Beach Cricket'. Brian noted that the longer the painting is viewed, the more one sees in the art.
