Members of a church in Sydney's west have been targeted in a death threat made by a stranger in a vehicle brandishing the ISIS flag.
According to a priest who witnessed the incident, the abusers drove past the Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Harris Park on Tuesday, threatening to "kill the Christians" and murder their children, the Australian Associated Press reported.
"They were strong words and people were scared of what they saw," he recounted.
An Islamic State flag along with a declaration of Muhammad being the only true prophet had reportedly been displayed on the car window.
Police and detectives have begun a search for those behind the threats after being alerted of the incident. It remains unclear how many people were in the car.
Earlier this week Prime Minister Tony Abbott stated that any Australians fighting for ISIS had broken the law and were acting "against God".
"They are doing something which is a very serious offence under Australian law and I say again to any Australian who might be thinking of travelling to the Middle East to join in terrorist activity – don't."
