Keith was accompanied by the Wesley Mission Director of Mission and Ministry and three senior members of the Wesley Mission Chinese Congregation.
Additionally, because of the Superintendent's presence, an invitation was extended to a meeting with Elder Fu Xianwei, who is the leader of the China Christian Council and Chair of the Three-Self Patriotic Movement of Protestant Churches in China.
This formal meeting with the China Christian Council senior staff member has built a platform for Wesley Mission and its links with China into the future.
It is hoped that in 2013, as part of Wesley Mission's three-year celebration of the beginnings of Methodism in Australia, to host a very significant event in the Wesley Centre, similar to events being held in Charlotte, North Carolina; First Methodist Church, Washington; and at Willow Creek, Chicago.
"It was a most exciting experience to meet the Chinese people and their Christian leaders and to observe some of the quite outstanding growth occurring in that country," Dr Garner said.
At Mo Chou Lu Church in Nanjing, Keith preached to a huge congregation inside the church and a further 300 sitting outside listening to the sermon because the church was full.
Numbers of Christians in China are growing daily and Elder Fu has responsibility for 25 million Christians in the Three-Self Patriotic Movement of the Protestant Churches.
