Interview: Tom Slater, National Director of the Australian Evangelical Alliance

Christian Today Australia recently caught up with Tom Slater, the National Director of the Australian Evangelical Alliance (EA), and talked about his background; the current activities which EA is planning; and finally giving us his comment on the recent Australian Christian Lobby web cast. .

    My life has fallen into a few stages. As a child, I lived in Box Hill when it was village. I then became pastor to the slums of inner Melbourne for eight years. I was then a country parson and a teacher at a one teacher bush school out at Jackson Creek in Western Victoria and then for 13 years, I was a suburban minister in one of Australia's largest suburban ministries.

    Article 46 of the Egyptian Constitution provides that "The State shall guarantee the freedom of belief and the freedom of practice of religious rites." At first blush this provision, cardinal to the human rights of Egyptians of all religious persuasions, seems to set in stone the right to freely practice any faith.
