Truth and Honesty: Liar liar pants on fire!!

Is honesty really the best policy? Can the truth actually set you free? Is a half truth just a whole lie? .

  • Open your eyes and ears to the seniors

It is not even something that my mind can fathom. Piloting sixty two operational aircraft attacks over enemy targets. Germany. France. Austria. Rumania. Hungary. Yugoslavia. Bulgaria. Greece. Italy. No matter how much I may try to understand the life of one pilot in the RAF during WW2, nothing in my experiences comes even close.

  • Act on God's provision, not donations.

Recently, I had the good fortune to chat with a visiting Pastor from Zambia, Philip Kazhingu.

  • Armageddon and Horoscopes: Predicting the Future

With recent publicity and ridicule concerning an American Christian leader (Harold Camping) predicting the end of the world, it is worth considering these sorts of claims and their impact on society. I believe what is at the core of these claims about the End is something deeply seated in the human heart.

  • Where is your Peace?

I came home one afternoon desperate to get into the house as quick as I could to head to the bathroom (toilet). I rushed through the door, pushed past my wife and kids and shut the door to go about and do what I had to do. During the next 5 minutes I was interrupted 3 times by my sons with various questions, discussions, football boots thrust upon my lap to tie up and general annoyance on their part. My wife yells out to me and asks whether I want a coffee. I just drop my head and yell at the to

  • Count your blessings

In November last year, I injured my knee playing a game of touch football. At the time of the accident, I didn't realize how serious the injury was until my surgeon revealed that I needed two surgeries to mend my broken knee. I was utterly shocked at the outcome. How could this have happened to me?

It was a morning crackling with cold. Even the winter sunshine on Queensland's Gold Coast couldn't warm most of us where it was really necessary, our hearts.

  • Walking with the Lord

I was out and about during my daily activities recently and as I stepped out of my car, there in the sky, shining in all its glory, was a magnificent rainbow.

  • Patience is a virtue...

Isn\'t it funny how people view certain aspects of the Christian life?

  • Loving God and keeping the commandments

A sad situation is enveloping large parts of the evangelical church today, especially those associated with the emergent church. Increasingly we are being told that love is the only thing that matters in the Christian life, and any talk of obedience or keeping God's commandments is somehow legalistic or in fact counter to love. Thus a new antinomianism is creeping through our churches.

  • Medical issues are relevant for television

Although I do not like to watch gory medical procedures on the television, my wife Delma will not only sit and watch the brain being dissected, the scalpel in action, the opening up a body in an operation, or the post mortems, in those forensic type television medical programs, she understands something of the medical issues being explained or discussed.

  • Reflecting on my role in Sports Ministry

I have been associated with sport all my life, as have many Australian youngsters. Every Saturday morning, you can see the netball courts and cricket/football/hockey fields filled with kids of all ages playing a variety of sports; and if you look harder, you can see their mothers and fathers ferrying them and their sports equipment around the suburbs and between country towns.
