  • Thanks be to God

As a new resident of Canada I recently celebrated my first Thanksgiving weekend and I am a big fan!

  • ARPA Conference – Evening Plenary Speaker, Mike Riddell, Wellington NZ

Walking into the first evening plenary at the recent ARPA conference in Wellington, NZ, I was unperturbed by the fact that I was in a room full of very gifted writers and I had no idea know what 'plenary' meant. To be placed on the opening night of the conference, I decided it must be important and felt intrigued about what this plenary speaker was going to present.

  • Anh Do – the refugee comedian and keynote speaker with a heart for helping change the world

Surviving 40 days at sea and pirate attacks, language barriers, divorcing parents, being broke, experiencing bullies, becoming a lawyer, then Comedian of the Year, Vietnamese-born Anh Do certainly has a life journey that most of us would listen to incredulously.

  • Are you instrumental to God?

Musical instruments are beautiful and meticulous objects that signify endless possibilities. When they are guided by a gifted musician, who is able to weave distinctive notes, chords, and tones together, they can produce thrilling sounds and poignant moments that exhibit the true value and characteristics of the instrument.

  • Church across the nations

Over the last 14 years I have had the amazing privilege of experiencing the Christian church in number of countries in Asia and the Pacific Islands. Even though my experiences have been fairly limited I have discovered that what we call church here in Australia appears as something quite different in other cultures.

  • iFangirl

Last article I outed myself as a fangirl (of Peter Hitchens) and frankly even though I know that Jesus comes first and no one is more awesome than Him, I have to admit to admiring some others for their awesomeness too. And no, it isn't the latest five-minute of famers on The X-Factor or vampire-portrayer that makes me want to scream for autographs and stalk (not that I do that stuff, honestly, Facebook stalking, psshhh, not me) - it's those that make defending the Christian faith look sexy.

  • Spring in Melbourne

Melbourne is a great location to be in Spring! As the cold Winter weather subsides and is replaced with the more pleasant occasional warm Spring day, the town seems to awaken again.

  • His eye is on the sparrow (and the finch)

Every so often a little birdie comes and tells you something good is going to happen. And sometimes, that little birdie is a finch.

  • ARPA conference – Seminar presentation by Major Barbara Sampson, Wellington NZ

Sitting in the back of the seminar room in Wellington, New Zealand, at the recent 2012 Australasian Religious Press Association conference, I was unsure of whether it was possible for my brain to take in any more. This was the one of the last seminars of the weekend and I had already been challenged, informed and inspired on many levels throughout the conference, aimed at Christian press and media personnel.

  • Brain jammed worry

Here I was sitting in my living room, reflecting on the day's events. I had so much going through my mind. What do I do? Where do I go? Where do I start? I was so consumed with worry that I felt like I was in a brain jam! Work was stressful, I heard of a friend's terminal illness, bills to pay, family and other responsibilities, major decisions to make – it all felt like it was too much.

  • No One Understands Me

I have had a "pity party" the last week.
