ARPA conference – HotHouse presentation by Lloyd Martin, Wellington NZ - Best of 2012
Youth. Young people. Teenagers. You may have placed this category of human beings in the 'too hard basket'. There is one man who hasn't. Lloyd Martin shared his passion for the younger generation at the opening session to this year's Australasian Religious Press Association conference held in Wellington last weekend. .

What is the Blue Room? - Best of 2012
The Blue Room is not about a room that is blue in colour. It is not about a room at all. It is not a program. It does not have a fund raising arm. It is not in a church building. So what is the Blue Room?

Material Girl in a Material World (men not exempt)! - Best of 2012
It's hard to resist! Everything is so shiny and beautiful. Every item is chic and brand new. The items hanging on the walls herald beauty and success. And I want them; I want them all. It's difficult to resist them.

iFangirl - Best of 2012
Last article I outed myself as a fangirl (of Peter Hitchens) and frankly even though I know that Jesus comes first and no one is more awesome than Him, I have to admit to admiring some others for their awesomeness too. And no, it isn't the latest five-minute of famers on The X-Factor or vampire-portrayer that makes me want to scream for autographs and stalk (not that I do that stuff, honestly, Facebook stalking, psshhh, not me) - it's those that make defending the Christian faith look sexy.

The Gospel According to Redback - Best of 2012
\'And so you see, if we don\'t use some wax to seal the boot after we\'ve bought it, not only will that pair of boots wear out incredibly quickly, but my feet will get wet and cold, effectively defeating the purpose of the boots in the first place.\'

My journey to Australia - Best of 2012
I remember sitting at home in Zimbabwe twelve years ago dreaming about going to university in Australia. I remember thinking at the time that Australia was somewhere different. Most people I knew wanted to attend school in the USA, Canada or Britain. But I wanted to go somewhere unusual and Australia was not the norm at that time. I wanted to experience what it would be like to live in country quite different to my own. It was a lot easier to qualify into a university overseas because at home, t

Crisis of Faith - Best of 2012
I haven't really had a crisis in MY faith. I am not even sure it's the right word to use. The last 6-9 months my faith was bombarded and challenged. My journey from Alice Springs via Adelaide, Melbourne, Dubbo, Newcastle and Tweed Heads to the Sunshine Coast (5500km!) itself caused a crisis of faith.

Lessons of a Learned Man - Best of 2012
I have a degree. It took me a long time, but I finally got it. Three and half years of study, practice, late nights, early mornings, high effort and low income have all culminated into three very expensive letters after my name: B.Mus.

Juggling Priorities - Best of 2012
We live in a busy world. Many of us are juggling a number of priorities. I certainly know that I am!

21 December is not the end of the world
If the apocalyptic interpreters of the ancient Mayan prophecy are to be believed, Christmas is cancelled, England will never win the World Cup and we'll never have to pay tax again. Though there's no evidence that the doomsday-mongers will be proved right on 21 December says Dr Andrew Crome, religious historian from The University of Manchester, we still need to understand where they're coming from.

Joy to the world
\"Joy to the world, the Lord is come. Let earth, receive her King\"; the starting words to the popular carol sang every Christmas. How true a statement especially if you lived in the time when Jesus, Immanuel, God with us, was born. The Israelites had waited many years and the time had come that had been prophesied in scripture time and time again.

Putting God to the test in Fiji – a short term mission trip of 13 Aussies putting faith into action
Thirteen men from Melbourne, Australia, going to Fiji, to put God to the test – serving in the slums, in hospitals and cities. At least, that was what I thought I was going to Fiji to do.
