Crippled by fear

Crippled by fear

I want to share two stories about fear. .

  • A trip home

When I started planning for my trip back home to visit my family, I didn't realise how quickly the time would fly. I hadn't seen my family in so many years, and could hardly wait to see them all again.

  • Follow God's guidance, not man's

As Christians, we have been taught to live by faith, not by sight. "What is faith?" someone will ask this question. The answer in my view, is easy and simple. Living by faith means that no matter what happens, we trust in God, even though there are huge obstacles in front of us, we move forward and stick to the original plan with God at our helm.

  • The self-love motivation that has little to do with you

I've never been skinny. I've never been fat. I've never been beautiful. I've never been ugly. I lived my life in the average category. But why be average when you can be extraordinary, right? And since you are extraordinary, you should spoil yourself, and take good care of yourself. You matter.

  • The decline of the Western world

Contemporary Western culture is in a time of crisis and uncertainty. For over 500 years Western civilisation was full of self-belief with faith in progress, reason and science.

  • State authorities swarm family's home and take children away by force…. in Germany!

Imagine you are sitting at home getting ready to start your day with your children. You are a home-schooling parent because you feel that God has challenged you to do that. You are sitting down, all your children have their books out and pencils are sharpened and you are holding a cup of tea in your hand.

  • Write

"The word came and made his dwelling among us."

  • Great Preachers of the Twentieth Century - Part 2

I\'ve heard some very notable sermons, and some not-so-notable sermons too. I noted in my searches that Michael Duduit who published in "Preaching" some years ago the most outstanding list of Christian preachers of the twentieth century. John Mark Ministries web site was a huge help in my searches: www.jmm.org

  • Forgotten command

Look. I don't know how familiar you are with the Ten Commandments but they surprised me this week. Most people over the world can agree to the majority of them; they're broad enough and good enough to be palatable. Most justice systems in the world would reflect the commandments to be truthful, not to murder others or steal from others, to honour authority structures and marriage relationships etc.

  • The game of life

So I've been thinking about games lately. One in particular: The Game of Life. Now maybe I'm on my own here but I personally find the concept to be pretty dull. In my opinion a game should involve imagination, creativity and a chance to explore a world free from the rules and restrictions of everyday life.

  • The longing that is never satisfied

My daughter wakes up at 5:30 every morning. But she is not allowed to get up until she hears the chirping of the first bird, which occurs where we live on the Gold Coast at approximately 5:45 every day.

  • It's time to seize the day

In popular culture today, we are lead to believe that the best time of our lives are when we are young. Popular British boy band One Direction sing in their hit single Live While We're Young "tonight let's get some, and live while we're young." Young fans are hearing this and are living their lives to the extreme. Generations past were using the motto "carpe diem" to define their lifestyles. Seizing the day held a different meaning to every young adult around the world.
