Suddenly... 30!

I can\'t quite believe I\'m about to turn 30! About ten years ago, while at a family friend\'s 30th birthday party, I remember quietly thinking to myself, \'well they\'re getting on a bit!\'.

  • Loving graffiti & eating eggs in paradise

    As I sat eating two perfectly poached eggs, accompanied by three of the fluffiest hotcakes ever concocted, I thought to myself, \"This must be close to paradise\".

  • The place of praise

    Two days ago the penny dropped for me in relation to the place that praise has in the life of a believer – and I mean to put an emphasis on the word \'place\'. It is not hard to understand that God, without a doubt, deserves all our praise – He is the creator of the universe, the giver of all good things, and the backbone of our existence.

  • Authenticity – it can be annoying

    They may make most people squirm and confuse anyone outside of church circles, but I love Christian buzzwords. They\'re so much fun.

  • Chelsea lead at the half way point!

    At the half way mark of the Premier League season, Chelsea go into the turn of the season with a 3 point lead after surrendering 3 points away at Southampton.

  • The resilience required to be second.

    In a world driven by being the best, it takes a hell of a lot of resilience to be second.

  • That loaded word – tolerance

    Few words provoke so much tension, debate and all-round discomfort as this one. Tolerance.

  • Violence, in the name of… Christ?

    People don\'t usually believe me when I say I\'m in the Army. I\'m not your stereotypical Army girl.

  • Power (Cut)

    I am not materialistic. I am not fascinated with power. I am not even that obsessed with technology (much).

  • We are prone to worry, quick to condemn and slow to pray

    Unless you\'ve been living under a rock, you will be well aware that our world is in desperate need of peace. Recent news has shown countless occasions whereby it seems as if humanity has lost its marbles and we\'re headed downhill for good.

  • Losing resolve

    I\'ve always thought of the calendar year as a line. You hop along it with a few humps and bumps, everything building up to Christmas until finally all of the pressure and hype is released and the New Year rolls around. Everything resets, the slate is wiped clean and everyone is free to start all over again.

  • The question of control, the question of existence

    We all like to think we are in control, or at least wish we were. We strive to feel on top of things, to have everything ordered and in its place. Family, careers, relationships, life. We tend to avoid any situation that we can\'t feel some level of control over.
