WBA already has facilitators running Respite Centres in Moruya (NSW south coast), Tweed Heads (NSW north coast) and Laguna Quays (Qld Whitsundays). They provide rest, recreation and pastoral counselling for Australian Institute of Sport athletes and coaches, retired cricketers and their families, the arts community and Christian workers such as missionaries and clergy and others.
Mr Basil Sellers AM, has been a great supporter of the Respite ministry since 1992 when the Moruya facility, Basil Sellers House, was opened.
Basil Sellers House in Moruya is a two storey lodge; Basil Sellers Tweed is part of the Surfing High Performance Centre; and Basil Sellers Laguna Quays is a cottage, specialising in personal respite for clergy and missionary families. The concept of respite is not new by any means, however Well-Being Australia's model of respite is a little different in that its clientele is specialised and visitors are not charged a fee, rather they are free to leave a gift towards the continuation of the ministry, if they are able.
Steve Suba has been the Tasmanian co-ordinator for Well-Being Australia since its inception and has been dreaming and planning a Tasmanian facility for many years.
Myrtle Grove Retreat is currently run and owned by Paul and Muriel Hart who are delighted to be part of "wider network of Respite facility providers", the first Well-Being Australia has recognised as part of a broader network of facilitators and co-ordinators (which will work almost like a free-franchise).
Steve Suba is just as delighted to be part of the Myrtle Grove Retreat support team because he recognises its intrinsic value to those in need of ministry respite.
