Host Leigh Hatcher speaks with Jane Bayliss, daughter of Melbourne news reading legend, Brian Naylor, who with his wife, Moiree lost their lives on that terrible day. Jane also lost her house to the flames.
She speaks powerfully of the firestorm that swept through Kinglake, where they all lived. She also takes us through her last conversation with her parents and an amazing turnaround in Brian's attitude towards the Christian faith in the last couple of days of his life. Jane speaks movingly of her thankfulness to God, even in the midst of much tragedy and loss.
Also on Sunday night Leigh begins a thought provoking four week series with John Dickson, the Director of the Centre for Public Christianity on 'Humility – the key to love, life and leadership.
In the weekly Open House 'Human Condition' segment with clinical psychologist Lyn Worsley, they'll explore how human relationships functions across a broad range of interactions – from families, siblings, to the school yard.
Leigh stepped into the Open House chair in May last year, taking over from the program's founder Sheridan Voysey. Leigh says – 'I was staggered by the range, depth and interest of all the remarkable guests we had on the program from week one last year... and they just kept on coming and coming! Already it's clear this year will be another Open House 'cracker'. Our interview with Jane Bayliss, timed for the Black Saturday anniversary, is an incredibly strong start to our year.
