Australian Baptist minister Mark Tronson, who was in Dallas, Texas twelve months ago, receiving an international award for then 27 years of Sports and Olympic ministry from Lay Witnesses for Christ International, "videoed a two minute Olympic presentation" by Dr Mings. Reflecting on this presentation, M V Tronson says that the Lay Witnesses for Christ International ministry has a three tiered approach for their ministry at each Summer Olympic Games.
Former Olympians
This ministry team includes numerous former Olympic medallists such as Olympian of the Century, Carl Lewis; and Gold medallists such as Jo Deloach, Richard Bucknor, and Madeline Manning Mims (to name but a few). This enables a seamless access to the athletes.
Ongoing Discipleship
This ministry has a focus on various ways to connect with people and to ensure ongoing discipleship for those who have made personal decisions to repent of their sin and follow Jesus as their Lord. It relies on fervent prayer, soul winning and linking into local churches and international ministries.
Evening with the Stars
This ministry devote a great deal of energy to hosting an 'Evening with the Stars' at a large convenient venue. This enables members of local communities to come and hear first hand from Olympic athletes the 'personal reasons' why they follow Jesus.
"It is therefore imperative that Christian leaders in London get a first hand knowledge of the way Lay Witnesses for Christ International ministry operates, as its proven philosophy has been honed over seven previous summer Olympics," M V Tronson noted.
