This is in the city of Buea, with a population of 57,000. It is in the English-speaking part of the country, with the only English speaking University in the nation.
This area of the Cameroon was a German colony until 1919 which was then a separate country called Southern Cameroon until 1972, when it combined with the rest of the country to become Cameroon. Buea is near the country's highest mountain, Mount Cameroon, and it has a warm, humid climate.
The Macedonia Baptist Church is a very significant church in the area and the Children's Ministry is a huge operation, because are there are many children in Buea. The emphasis of the Sunday School work is that of evangelism, imparting the Salvation message in order that each child will know a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Judith Wanki was one of 12 delegates from Cameroon at the Baptist World Congress in Hawaii, which included the General Secretary of the Cameroon Baptist Convention. All the delegates came from English speaking churches.
Judith herself is a home maker with a husband and four children, and has called for prayer for her nation to be completely won for Jesus Christ. The country has 19 million people and therefore the harvest is ripe and she has a passion for evangelism for her people.
"The wider Baptist work in Cameroon is growing," explained Judith Wanki. We now have 19,000 members and 300 churches in the Cameroon Baptist Convention, and that does not include those who are adherents or the thousands upon thousands of children."
