The professional and amateur surging competition is a two part contest that saw fierce talent at Queensland's Duranbah Beach in June.
Jesus Pro Am Duranbah winners and contenders now have their sights set on Cronulla where they will whip it, spray and air it, all in the name of JPA victory.
Cronulla welcomes scoreboard leaders from June; Mitch Crews wowed crowds with spectacular waves in the open men's to take out the final against last year's 2010 champion, Nic Squire.
Audrey Styman-Lane took the ladies surfing to a new level with a solid performance. "This is my 4th year competing in the Jesus Pro Am. It brings awesome surfers and a great festival vibe. Definitely one to look forward to on the competition calendar." Said Audrey.
The Gold Coast's junior competition also had crowds on their feet as Mitchell Parkinson pulled some epic manoeuvres to beat Tommy Boucaut.
In the junior girls division, Stephanie Single took out surfing glory on the Gold Coast.
All Gold Coast winners are looking forward to the challenge that awaits them in Cronulla.
Competitors in the women's division have a challenge ahead with Jesus Pro Am 2010's female winner of both the Cadets and Open Women's final; Ellie Jean Coffee set to compete.
"I'm really looking forward to Jesus Pro Am Cronulla. The event brings awesome surfing competition alongside a really friendly, fun atmosphere. It's definitely my favourite event to compete in." Said Ellie-Jean.
The Christian Surfers organised contest is not the only attraction. Jesus Pro Am combines aerials, radical turns and general surfing stroke with a Saturday festival for everyone. See a host of great bands, skating half pipe, enjoy a free barbie and cake stall, face painting for the kids and market's showcasing the Shire's latest wears. With over 1000 people expected to attend.
Joined by Hope 103.2, the event will be broadcasted live.
As with previous years there's more than just pride and glory on the line. The prize pool consists of over $5500, an array of prizes and giveaways plus a 'win a surfboard competition' – proudly sponsored by RB Shapes.
For those competing in the Men's and Women's Open division, $1000 is up for grabs for the top performer and $500 will be rewarded to second place. In the junior categories, $400 goes to first place and $200 for second. All open competitors will be able to enter to win a surf trip to the Maldives.
To date, almost 100 surfers have registered for the competition with the Cadet Boys full to capacity. The closing date for entries to the Cronulla Jesus Pro Am 2011 is Wednesday October 5. Competition fee is $85 per entrant in Open divisions and $65 for Cadets.
Rich in history, the Jesus Pro Am has been wowing crowds since 1983. The competition has found a solid place in Australia's vibrant surfing community and produced some of Australia's most celebrated surfing legends.
Past winners include former world title contenders Gary Elkerton and Michael 'Munga' Barry and former World junior champion Shane Bevan.
Christian Surfers, Regional coordinator, Dave Lovell is event managing the Cronulla Jesus Pro Am event. He says each year the Jesus Pro Am Series exposes future champions of Australian surfing and JPA Cronulla 2011 will carry on this tradition.
"The Jesus Pro Am series brings together a range of elite, up and coming amateur surfers that bring with them incredible skill, creativity and contagious enthusiasm," said Dave.
The competition was created by Christian Surfers in honour of Jesus, however entrants do not need to be Christian to enter or attend the event.
Dave said the annual Jesus Pro Am series is the flagship event on the Christian Surfers Australia calendar.
"In Honour of Jesus who showed us 'a God of crazy-big love', and in partnership with local churches, Christian Surfers Australia provide the Cronulla Surfing community with a memorable event which unites an array of fun-loving people," said Dave.
