Richmond Wandera, who grew up in a Ugandan slum, will kick off his 'I am not forgotten' tour, speaking about his journey to becoming a university graduate and founder of a pastor's network supporting over 3000 pastors in East Africa.
"My family and I had very little food or money," Richmond recalled. "When it rained we didn't sleep, we stood against the wall waiting for the rain to pass."
"My life changed when a 15-year-old girl decided to sponsor me through Compassion. Now I even sponsor a child myself," he said.
Today, Richmond is a sought after preacher and speaker who has presented at many conferences around the world.
"It is wonderful to have inspiring people like Richmond visit Australia and give first-hand accounts of how child sponsorship has changed their lives," Compassion CEO Tim Hanna said. "Compassion child sponsorship is seeing over one million children being released from poverty."
"This tour is a great opportunity to hear more about why child sponsorship works and be encouraged by Richmond's story of how he was lifted from poverty," he said.
