Brian's first contact with BCA came from a chance encounter in the 1970s as a result of his technical skills. What started as a voluntary position fixing tape recorders, progressed to a long association with the Society.
Brian, along with his wife Denyse and family took up their first official position with BCA in 1981, serving as Field Staff in Zeehan, Tasmania. After three years of service in Zeehan, Brian spent five years working for the Society as the NSW General Secretary (today's Regional Officer position). Brian was also the Acting Federal Secretary for several months after the death of Revd Wakely Wade in 1986. The position of Federal Secretary (now National Director) was commenced by Brian on August 1st, 1992.
Throughout Brian's 18 years as National Director, the Society has seen many positive changes with an emphasis on intentional mission in all appointments. With a renewed focus on the 'new bush', mission has expanded around Australia, increasing the Society's potential to reach more Australians for Christ. A great many ministry initiatives have come to fruition as a result of Brian's vision.
"Denyse and I have reached this decision after a long consideration realising that the Society needs a fresh face at the top and we a change of life/work balance" writes Brian. "It has been an exciting and rewarding time for us, a privilege to be part of it all".
The Executive have formed a nominations committee to find a replacement National Director under our Chairman's leadership. Pray for the Society in this time of change, for the committee who have the carriage of finding a replacement National Director and for the Roberts family as they seek to fulfil God's will in the next phase of their lives.
