There were held in Darwin, Adelaide and Melbourne and featured Christian theologians and speakers, Mike Raiter, Greg Clarke and John Dickson respectively.
The Darwin event, addressed by Mike Raiter was attended by over 100 people, which according to local organisers, was more than expected.
"To get this many people to any event in Darwin is very hard but we did it this time," said local Bible Society spokesman, David Curtis. "Mike was very engaging and people really related to his style of communication," he said.
The Adelaide event was attended by over 90 and was addressed by Bible Society CEO, Greg Clarke.
"Greg was very non-confrontational while still addressing the core issues of why people don't read the Bible," said Adelaide Bible Society spokesperson, Andy Stevens. "His talk gave people a new perspective on the Biblical texts, which adds a level of credibility to our Christian faith," he said.
The Melbourne event was held in the heart of Melbourne's CBD, with over 150 attending. Leading New Testament historian John Dickson delivered an informative and relaxed address concerning the historical documents, archaeological findings and extra-biblical sources that uncover the possible stages of development that have shaped our New Testament. Questions were texted to John during the night, which then shaped a lively Q&A to finish.
The aim of the 'Live Light in 25 Words' campaign is to encourage Australian Christians to read the Bible every day for the month of October and turn that into the habit of a lifetime," said Bible Society's Chris Melville.
There are three more public talks to be held in the series, Perth (10th September), Hobart (12th September), and Toowoomba (19th September)
