A national issue: Ways of encouraging youngsters to do science - Pearl Harbour and Darwin illustrations!
Seventy one years ago today the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbour where radar was in its infancy and had this science been understood better the air defence would have met the Japanese in the air and the harbour ships would have been ready for the attack. This same Japanese fleet attacked Darwin six weeks later on the 19 February 1942 and again radar would have alerted defences. Science is of ever present value.
